Opening Riverside Primary School, Hullbridge
On Friday, 17th September, I was honoured to officially open the Riverside Primary School in Hullbridge, in my capacity as a Team Essex Ambassador.
I had lunch with staff and Governors and a tour of the school. I then had to make a speech when I spoke about myself and my role as a Team Essex Ambassador, my sport of Disability Powerlifting and what it will mean to me if I am fortunate enough to be chosen to represent Great Britain in the 2012 Paralympics. I was unable to take along any of my training equipment as benches, weights and bars are a bit heavy and awkward to fit in my car. However, I did have a clip of me on Channel 4's T4 going head to head with Ricky Edwards in a light hearted benchpress challenge. I think that went down well.
Then in the afternoon parents came along to see me cut the ribbon for the official opening .
A great day- the staff, governors, parents and pupils all made me feel very welcome.
