New Record

I thought my competitions this season were over. How wrong I was! My coach sprung the news on me a week before a Bench Press competition to tell me she had entered me. So Sunday, 5th December I dropped off my little daughter with my parents at 6am and drove up to Solihull for the weigh-in at 9am. Although I was to lift in the 56kg bodyweight class I competed as if I was lifting in my Paralympic class of 48kg. In fact I weighed in at 47.8kg. The lifts went well and on my third lift I set a new British record for unassisted bench press at 137.5kg, breaking my own record, set earlier this year, by 5kg. I was well pleased with that!

My next competition, a very important one because I have to achieve a target weight of 137.5kg to stay on the programme, is on 29th January in Cardiff. Fingers crossed I should do it - because I have just done it! But nothing can be taken for granted.
